Iran FM leaves Tehran for Munich

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs leaves Tehran for Munich aimed at partaking in the 58th Munich Security Conference (MSC).

Iran has usually attended the security conference to discuss issues of interest with other states.
The Munich Security Conference addresses security policies at global level.
Participants in the conference usually do not take decisions; so, the event is a platform for commenting, consulting and political meetings.
The conference focuses on an internationally important security issue each year.
This 58th Munich Security Conference is scheduled to be held from February 18-20, 2022. The venue of the conference is at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich, Germany.
This year’s conference will be held in a restricted format because of observing protocols following the COVID-19 pandemic; so, fewer guests and media representatives as well as delegations will participate in the event.
Wolfgang Ischinger, Chairman of the Munich Security Conference, said: “Our world is in danger. Traditional certainties are crumbling, threats and vulnerabilities are multiplying, and the rules-based order is increasingly under attack. The need for dialogue has never been greater.”
Reuters reported on Friday that the Ukraine border crisis with Russia is expected to dominate the annual Munich Security Conference as the Western powers particularly the US focus on possibility of a Russian incursion into Ukraine, which has been dismissed by Moscow so far.
